Enjoy stopping to admire the views, talking to the local people and cycling on this laid-back island. Yura port has 4 adult’s bicycles, 2 children’s bicycles and 2 tandems, and Tomari port has 4 adult’s bicycles. Ask the crew on the ferry to Tomari port and Yura port. They will help you with the application procedure. When using the bicycles at Yura port, you can complete the procedures at the port office, but since nobody is there on Saturday and Sunday, it’s best to do it on the ferry.
From the port, you can head along the east side via Tomari, Funakoshi, Yura, and Maiso, enjoying the sea air. From the port, you can head slowly to Funakoshi, and if you push it a bit you can get over the pass at Funakoshi or Yura in about ten minutes. On the opposite side of the island, you can go to Washigasu or Kitaura and enjoy the fantastic view from the midpe of the slope.

You can enjoy marine leisure from spring to autumn at Aikogahama beach in Tomari on Gogoshima Island. The Flyboard is a unique marine sport that arrived in Japan in 2012. Using the water jet from a jet ski, you fly in the air standing on a board.
You need good balance, but once you’ve got the knack, it’s very simple to float in the air. You get advice from an instructor, and it doesn’t matter even if you can’t swim because you wear a life jacket. If one person has a go at it, soon everybody wants to have a go!

On this program, you hike along the coasts and roads of Gogoshima Island in the comfortable season, picking up rubbish as you go. By the roadside are stone Buphas, shrines, and flowers planted by local people, and you can come to understand the spirit of the island as you walk. After strong rain and the like, a lot of rubbish gets washed onto the island from other places. Please help the islanders clean it up when you visit.
Cleaning the beach under a blue sky as you chat with the group is great fun, and gives you a sense of achievement. Tamura-san says it’s very hard to lead adults who are enjoying a taste of freedom, and everybody apparently has fun in their own way. Mr. Tamura serves as guide to the island, and Mrs. Tamura makes a packaged meal with typical island cooking.

In olden times, Tsurugiryo bargained directly with a feudal lord who was taxing the farmers harshly. He succeeded in getting the annual tribute reduced, but he earned the wrath of the officials and was beheaded. The festival is held every year to honour the heroism of Tsurugiryo.
There are many events including a sumo competition for elementary school pupils, performances by local bands, mochimaki, and a farmer’s market. This is a perfect spring festival under the full cherry blossoms.

Futagamijima Island is located at the southwest end of the Kutsuna Islands. It was recorded in the Heian period, and Yayoi period weapons have been dug up here. A guide takes you down the back lanes of this small but historic island.
In May 1972, Futagamijima Island was featured in the world renowned National Geographic Magazine. The beautiful scenery of the coast and villages remain as they were. There are many things to see such as the juniper habitat registered as a prefectural natural monument, and a 130 year old cactus in front of a private home that has turned into a tree.
