An island 13.5 km northwest of Hojo port with a population of about 20 people, where time goes gently by.
A small island 1.3 km east to west and 0.2 km north to south, 35 minutes by ferry from Hojo port. It once thrived as a harbour for ships awaiting a favourable wind and tide. With almost no flat ground, you can walk around the island in about an hour following the ridges. The island is rich in seaweed such as hijiki, and seafood. Each home is fronted by a vegetable patch, and the scenery of the island has the quiet warmth of a nearly self-sufficient lifestyle.
