This museum aims to be interactive, where visitors can learn the appreciation and creative process behind art, as well as developing their own creativity. There is a collection of more than 10,000 works of art which are rotated through the exhibition program. Visitors can also see independent and touring exhibitions, as well as being free to create their own art work in the museum's Prefectural Residents' Studio.
Situated in the center of the city, the museum has a new wing and a south wing. In the special exhibition room of the new wing, large-scale touring exhibitions are held five or six times a year, and also curators' new projects are presented in special exhibitions. The permanent exhibition room presents works from the museum collection in four or five different exhibitions a year, featuring Ehime-related artists from the Edo period onward, as well as other Japanese and foreign artists. In the Prefectural Residents' Studio of the south wing, visitors can create art work at their own pace; printing, woodworking, textile-dyeing, photography, and clay-forming.
